Cloudways is a managed hosting platform owned by DigitalOcean. You pick a cloud provider and server size, and Cloudways sets up and manages the server stack for PHP applications such as WordPress, WooCommerce, Magento and Laravel. The platform handles server updates, caching, backups, staging sites and SSL certificates, and gives you one dashboard for apps, team members and server settings.
Agencies use it to host client sites without running servers themselves, while still choosing the underlying cloud. Billing is per server through Cloudways. Before you choose it, check which providers and locations it offers, how backup retention and restores work, what level of server access you get, and how support splits application issues from server issues.
